Shark Rotator Lift Away VacuumKeeping my home clean is an ongoing battle, what with my kids and our pets. Plus, my husband and youngest daughter have allergies, so keeping the air clean of pet dander, mold and dust is really important. I tried my best to keep the house clean with dusters and my old upright vacuum, but I was fighting a losing battle.

One day I was watching television and saw an ad for the Shark Rotator Lift Away Vacuum. It looked pretty cool, so I thought I’d give it a try. Not only was it the best vacuum I’ve ever used, but my husband and daughter both reported fewer allergy symptoms after only a couple of weeks!

Click Here if you’re looking for the best place to buy the Shark Rotator and you will be taken to the official site.

How It Works

The bagless technology of the Shark Rotator Lift Away draws in pet hair, dander, dirt and other allergens and keeps them completely sealed up in the machine’s dust container. The design of this vacuum, along with its specially-designed attachments, ensure that you can reach dust and dirt on or under any surface, including kitchen appliances, ceiling fans and furniture.

Unlike standard vacuums, this machine works great on floors as well as carpet. Plus, it’s air filtering capabilities are significantly better than vacuums that rely on bags and filters: Since the dust collection chamber is sealed,  there is no risk of the vacuum pumping allergens back into the air. When you use the Shark Rotator Lift Away Vacuum, the dust and dirt is separated from the air that circulates back into your home.

One of my favorite things about this vacuum is the “Lift-Away” feature. You are able to easily remove the canister from the base and carry it around with you to vacuum stairs, furniture, and other items that you don’t need to lug the whole vacuum around for. The canister is super light and is simple to transport around the house.

Check out this video demonstration to see this vacuum in action (it’s sometimes hard to hear him since he’s walking around the room using the vacuum, so make sure you turn your volume up):

Pros and Cons

As with any appliance, there are some pros and cons, though it was honestly very hard for me to find anything wrong with this vacuum:

  • The sealed container guards against allergens, including pet dander, insuring that they don’t get sent back into the air that you and your family breathe.
  • Multiple attachments let you clean everything from carpets to floors to knick-knacks. You can even clean ceiling fan blades using the extension attachment!
  • Lifts pet hair off furniture with ease.
  • Free steam mop attachment is great for getting floors super-clean.
  • Easy to clean, no bags required.
  • 1/3 the cost of a Dyson Vacuum.

  • If I had to pick one thing that was an inconvenience with the Shark, it’s that sometimes when I have the canister detached from the base of the vacuum and it’s just sitting on the floor while I vacuum the stairs or furniture, it can be easy to knock over due to it’s light weight. This mainly happens when I pull the attachment hose too far which pulls the canister with it. The Rotator does come with a little “caddy” though, which allows you to wheel it around and avoid knocking it over.

How to Buy

For something like this, I’d definitely recommend ordering through the official website. You’ll make sure that you get all the attachments, including the free steam mop bonus, and a 5 year VIP warranty that protects your investment. I know some stores do sell this vacuum, but they don’t include the free steam mop. It’s also more expensive than the website in the stores where I have seen it.

Final Recommendation

If you are looking for an all-in-one solution for getting your home clean while also purifying the air, check out the Shark Rotator Lift Away Vacuum. It costs far less than similar machines, while offering features that standard vacuums can’t. I have been extremely happy with this vacuum and I know you will enjoy it too!

  1. I have owned Hoover’s, Bissell’s, Dirt Devil’s and Rainbow’s but this is the best, easiest I’ve ever owned. I have two dogs and I’m amazed at the suction this vacuum has. It works equally as well on carpet, hardwood, tile and area rugs. I am
    one happy owner!

    • I agree Vicki. This thing definitely measures up to the more expensive vacuums for a much lower price. I’m always amazed too at how much pet hair it sucks up. It’s kinda crazy when you see it and knowing that it was all just sitting on your floors!

    • Is this vacuum safe to use on oriental area rugs to vacuum up dog hairs?

    • Overall the Shark seems pretty good, but the rotating floor brush just failed for the second time. The first time they sent a complete replacement unit. This time they said they would send just the detachable unit with the brush. OK, but now it is back-ordered until April 30 over a month away. Unacceptable.

  2. It is a very nice working device indeed. It works perfectly for me with out any errors and it’s way cheaper than those Dyson vacuums but just as good. I love it!

    • Thanks for your review Jonies and happy to hear you like the vacuum just as much as I do!

  3. Appreciate the recommendation. Will try it out.

  4. I have six cats and a dog, and this thing keeps my furniture free of pet hair! I love it and wouldn’t be without it!

    • Thanks for your review Michelle. I know exactly what you’re saying. Whenever I get done vacuuming with my Shark, I have so much pet hair in the canister that I didn’t even realize was on the carpets.

  5. This vacuum looks really cool. I was thinking of getting a Dyson but I really don’t want to spend that much. I think I’ll try the Shark instead since they are just as good.

    • Yes the Shark is every bit as good as the Dyson’s are in my opinion and a fraction of the cost. I would never spend upwards of $400 on a vacuum when this one does just as good of a job.

    • Well put, sir, well put. I’ll cenatirly make note of that.

  6. I want one of these!

    • Just pull the trigger Amy, you won’t be disappointed 🙂

  7. I just purchased one ~ can’t say I’ve been this excited about a home appliance, ever! I hope its as great as you all say; been researching it a while now; we have 5 cats and a hubby w/ allergies & asthma so we hope its a winner

    • Hey Dana,

I think you will definitely be happy with your purchase. If you have been using just a standard vacuum up until now, you will notice a huge difference in the amount of hair it sucks up. You may even need to go over your floors a few times at first to get all the hair and dust that the other vacuum left behind.

Let us know what you think once you use it!

      • WOW! What a difference this is making. I was pretty disturbed by the amount of dirt, hair & dust the Rotator pulled out of the carpets AFTER we had run our Bissel (which was purchased in Dec, 2012). Not only that, the air SMELLS better. I am over the moon with this product and its capabilities so far. Going to give it the 6 month test and let you know how we’re doing ~ Thanks!!

        • Glad you’re loving the Shark Dana. It is an awesome vacuum and yes, it’s a bit disturbing seeing just how much your old vacuum leaves behind lol.

    • I just purchased one of these also. I have bee looking at many reviews on the different vacuums and this one seems to be the best in opinion. Can’t wait to get it. I have an Australian Sheppard that sheds like crazy all year. I vacuum ever two days and her hair fills the dirt cup in no time. The vacuum I have now is about 10 yrs old and just spits the dust right back out all over my furniture again.

  8. I have used many different vacuum cleaners in my house cleaning field and this is by far the best investment I have made. I wondered when seeing the advertisements for it if it was made out to be more then what it really was. To my surprise it was everything they said it would be. I will never go back to any other vacuum cleaner

  9. Have thick pile carpet. How well would it work on that? My Dyson is too hard to pull on it.

    • It should still work for thick pile carpet Mike. I’ve went over several different types of carpet with mine and it works great on all of them.

      • I too, have medium pile carpet and it pushes hard across carpet, leaving roller marks in carpet—wish it had a height adjustment like my old vacuum–not real happy!

    • Even with an option to adjust the level of suction for high-pile rugs, this vacuum has too much suction. It gets stuck in one place and you can’t move it. That’s a real disappointment, because otherwise it’s a great vacuum.

  10. The easy to empty is great, plus the great suction. I have had my Shark Rotator for about 4 mos. Great buy and I based my purchase on first buying the Shark Lift Around….use them both for everything. I tell everyone how fantastic they are and what a great price !!!!!

    • Thanks for your review Foy and I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying this Shark as well!

  11. How is the lift away on hardwood floors?

    • Do this work on laminate floors?

      • Time to face the music armed with this great infoimatron.

  12. We have owned a Kirby vacuum for the last 7 years. It was over $1000 and supposed to be best you could. It is really heavy, and lately been burning through belts. I built a new house last year with a finished basement carpeted. It is a pain to drag the Kirby up the steps so we decided to try this vacuum. WOW. Kirby demonstrated their vacuum after you used your current one. This thing filled up IMMEDIATELY with dirt and sand. The carpet is only 1 year old. I wish we would have seen you could get those long reach attachments for under the appliances but got this at Sears, My only concern is I have noticed it seems to pull some of the strands up on the carpet and we have to cut them flush with scissors. This is a medium pile carpet. Maybe they were loose and the extra suction is just working them up. I will watch it carefully. My kids love to use it and watch it work. Buy it and you will be amazed. I want those extra attachments d***itt! Buy the special from Sharks website.

  13. The problem I tend to have with my vac. is an odor. I have 2 large Bernese Mtn. dogs that spend a lot of time outdoors and get stinky. The vac. I’ve had in the past trap in the dogs odor and I can smell it every time I vac. How does this compare?

  14. I’ve seen this Shark model at stores but also saw the Shark® Rotator® Pro Complete Lift-Away® at a store online. I think it is more attractive (brushed gold I think) but it’s $50 more and I’ve not seen anything from reviewers about it. what is the difference between it and the other Shark Rotator Pro (without the word Complete) Lift-Away? I wouldn’t want to pay $50 more for a more appealing appearance.

  15. Waiting on a reply about how it works on hardwoods.

  16. I own a Dyson which is an excellent machine but the Shark Rotator picks up much more dirt from the carpet and is much easier to maneuver than the Dyson. I bought the NV501 which has the most useful attachments I have ever seen come with a vacuum. Don’t let the price fool you as this is the best vacuum I have ever used and as hard as it is to believe I can’t wait to have to vacuum again. Combine this with the Shark Duo and it looks like the carpets are brand new.
Shark you have hit it out the park with this one.

  17. Love, love, love this vacuum cleaner!!! I have to goldendoodles. I too, can’t say that I get excited about purchasing a vacuum, but this one is great! I was amazed at how much dirt my old vacuum was leaving behind. I would like to know how/where to get the tool to clean under appliances.

    • I love reading these articles because they’re short but iniormatfve.

  18. I am 52 years old and have been cleaning professionally and my own home since i was eighteen years old. I also detail my cars at least 3 to 4 times a year. I have used every vac on the market, but non compare to this shark. I wear out at least a one vac every two years. I have the feeling it wont happen with this one. I would defaintly recommend this vac to everyone and would not loan this to anyone. Its that good. Down the road if I need to buy another it would be this one.I have a bad neck and back and this has made cleaning for me so much easier. thank you again for such a wonderful product.

  19. I bought the rotor lift away and I am so happy with it. I bought it at Wal-Mart and I was wondering where I can get the rest of the attachments like the wand to clean under refrigerator and stoves and the brush to clean my ceiling fans and my computer. I love my shark rotator and I wouldn’t use anything else. Thank you very much for such a great vacuum.

  20. I have bought at least two vacuums a year trying to get housework done. I have been through Dirt Devil, Bissell, Electrolux, Eureka, Hoover, of all types and all different price points. I bought the shark rotator three years ago and never bought a vacuum since. I am happy with this product. I can not find any thing wrong. Angela

  21. How heavy is this vacuum? How does it work on shag rug?

  22. I too wonder if it will have a problem with shag rugs because of powerful suction. My Oreck upright wouldn’t allow me to push or pull because of suction.

    • On my shag rugs, I have the same issue with the Shark that you have with the Oreck, even when I make every adjustment available to reduce the level of suction. It’s a real disappointment, because otherwise this is a great vacuum, but I don’t want to keep two vacuums on hand. : (

  23. I am considering this vacuum and have read all the reviews which are impressive. I have a 1 year old Oreck that was suppose to be the best and I hate it. I have hardwood floors and pets. It has great suction by a defective design because the intake hole is tiny and continuously gets clogged up.How does your product compare? I can’t see that this has been an issue with yours. Thanks for your answer.

    • Hello, Sandee. Thanks for the inquiry. I find that Shark doesn’t have an issue with suction or becoming clogged at all. In fact, the only real issue I have with it is that I sometimes knock the canister over by accident because of not paying attention or pulling the hose too far.

  24. Not impressed. Right out of the box it doesn’t compare with my Hoover wind tunnel. It has decent suction at the hose. But not much at the head. It maneuvers nicely and the attachments are good. But the end result is rather lackluster.

    • Upon trouble shooting the vacuum. There was a baggie in the rotator. Right out of the box. I was a little unhappy with the performance of this machine. Went to the always reliable YouTube for help. Took the entire vac apart and found a baggie crammed in the “S” pipe (?). This thing is way better than my earlier review. It’s much better than my over priced Kirby. And way better than the Windtunnel. The only complaint that I would offer is, when using the attachments on the hose, the whole thing becomes unstable. Even when it is placed on the roll around “canister” base. Angry at quality control but thoroughly happy with the vacuum.

    • I’m seriously considering purchasing the Shark Rotator Liftaway and would like to know if the furniture attachment is air-powered or direct powered?

  25. Just bought this today and wow!!!! I just want to register it for the warranty if need be. I just can’t get over how much in 20 minutes of trying it out how much hair from our 3 dogs it picked up after vacuuming with our Bissell vacuum.. Needless to say.. The Bissell is headed to the dumpster today! Thank you for an awesome job of making something I have been looking for and I am going to bring it to my other relatives so the can try it and buy one too! I’m amazed!

  26. Please describe the process of cleaning out the vacuum. How many filters? Does it get washed out? I’ve had bagless vacuums in the past and the cleaning out process after use was so difficult that it made the ease of use in vacuuming just not worth it.

  27. I just purchased mine today, got extra attachments and free Steam mop. I can’t wait to get it and try it out. Been really wanting a Shark steam mop.

  28. I want to leave a comment because of my experience with Kirby. My Kirby is ten years old and has not been working right for about 2 years. When we purchased our Kirby they said it had a lifetime warranty we just paid for s/h unless it needed rebuilt and then it only would cost $50. Today when I called Kirby it was going to cost me s/h plus $270 to get it rebuilt. So…. I bought the Shark, steam mop package deal and paid $270 and change; that is with s/h. Ironically I bought the same steam mop a couple days ago and it is still in the box so, now I get to return it. I just bought a $170 vacuum. Screw you Kirby!!!! I wish I could prove the lifetime warranty that we were told so I could contact the better business bureau!!!

  29. The model # I purchased is NV650. While I have to say I love the idea of this vacuum it has a poor design. I have hardwood floors and much to my surprise the rotator brush does not rotate when on the hardwood floor setting. So the dog hair does not fully get sucked into the canister. So when you vacuum the dog hair that does not get sucked up is just getting pushed around. I understand from talking to customer service that it is designed that way so as not to scratch your floors. So now I have to vacuum with it on the carpet setting which is ridiculously loud. I never would have purchased this model had I known.

  30. I like the video demonstration you included in your post. I am convinced how effectively this shark rotator lift away vacuum is.

    • It’s pretty sweet. The Shark has been subject to some undue (in my opinion) criticism. But, I was very pleased with my unit. I think you’ll be happy with yours as well.

  31. One big problem. Even with suction holes opened fully it is slowly destroying my carpet by pulling up strands one at a time.

  32. I believed all of the commercials about the rotator and spent money to avoid a bad vacuum. Little did I know it would only last 1 year before the motorbroke completely. 1 year is not worth the money one pays for this. I had to buy ANOTHER one for half the price. It was a Hoover and is doing a great job. DON’T BUY IT! It won’t last more than 1 year.

  33. We bought a Shark Rotator Power Lift Away at Costco and could not get the power head to work. The bar would come on for a second the quit. The small power head work fine. After talking with Shark support we took in back and got a new one. We are having the same problem with this one. We have done all the trouble shooting suggestions but still nothing. I got a Shark to replace my old Dyson because of the reviews but I am not impressed and will not be getting another one when I take this one back.

  34. Nice post. I learn something new and challenging on webѕіtes I stumbleupon on a daily basis.
It’s always Õ½seful to read contеnt from otheг Ğ°uthors
and practice something from their websites.
